LINC Gungahlin – Official Opening

Introduction

On the 24th July we were very honoured to officially launch LINC Gungahlin.

LINC GUNGAHLIN – OFFICIAL OPENING

LINC – which stands for Living in Network Communities – is a program offered by CatholicCare Canberra & Goulburn which supports individuals with a disability to live independently within a suburban network, and to utilise the support of Community Development workers to build relationships with neighbours, peers and members of that suburban community to develop natural supports. LINC is based on the UK Key Ring model, and LINC Gungahlin is now the third LINC network in the ACT operated by CatholicCare, with others in Belconnen and Weston Creek.

This project was made possible through the Commonwealth Government department FACHSIA (now DSS) through their SAIF – Supported Accommodation Innovation Fund, funding from the ACT Government through ACT Housing and CatholicCare. In addition Disability ACT has funded the Community Development workers who are so crucial to the success of this network model.

Our 9 residents will soon become tenants of these beautiful properties, and they and their families will be able to enjoy flexible independent living within a network of support.
